span

it was bright out when you came
all the grays singing into brown and green
watching was full of ease
but knowing those first limbs pushed against brick and mortar to come to
first you were stencil
then heart shape
then bone
postcard
then letter
then map
and I may hold my questions
brimming over you
but you have your keep
your reach
