I am waiting for something to end.
Each day an extended limbo — the hiatus of a life
within a life — all spark and falter —
ignition and idle engine. What word is
to meaning, music is
All door and door
jam, cliff and precipice.
How does one appropriate the life of another
and not become a failed adagio?
Can I be wheel to his rotation, voice to his thought,
hymn to his song — all solace and supplication?
We have become the soft blur between dream
and dream-like, this room
and the painting of a room.
