Hollerween: Readings, Live Music, and Film at Firefly Farms

The Sundress Academy for the Arts is pleased to announce Hollerween, part of the Holler Salon series at Firefly Farms. The event will take place 6-10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, and will feature poetry readings by Kelly Lorraine Andrews, Gordon Buchan, Sarah A. Chavez, Tyrese L. Coleman, and Caitlin Scarano, as well as live music from Headface featuring poetic, image-driven storytelling, and film screenings of work by local filmmaker and horror master Sam Comer!

andrews (1)Kelly Lorraine Andrews‘ poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Ninth LetterPANK, and Prick of the Spindle, among others. She is the author of four chapbooks, most recently The Fear Archives (Two of Cups Press, 2017) and My Body Is a PoemI Can’t Stop Writing (Porkbelly Press 2017). She received her MFA in poetry from the University of Pittsburgh, and she co-edits the online journal Pretty Owl Poetry.

 

Gordon Buchan is a Temple graduate and resident of Philadelphia. His writing has appeared in Sugar House ReviewSundress, and Smartish Pace. He also co-edits the online journal Pretty Owl Poetry.

 

 

Sarah A. Chavez, a mestiza born and raised in the California Central Valley, is the author of two collections of poetry, All Day, Talking (dancing girl press, 2014) and Hands That Break & Scar (Sundress Publications, 2017). Her work can be found in Voices On UnityBrevity, NAR, and RE:AL, among others. She was named one of the 2016 Top Ten “New” Latino Authors to Watch (and Read) by LatinoStories.com and is a proud member of the Macondo Writers Workshop. www.sarahachavez.com.

 

Tyrese L. Coleman is a writer, wife, mother, and attorney. She is an associate editor at SmokeLong Quarterly, an online literary journal dedicated to flash fiction. A 2016 Kimbilio Fiction Fellow and a nonfiction scholar at Virginia Quarterly Review‘s 2016 Writer’s Conference, her prose has appeared in several publications, including PANKDay One, Buzzfeed, BrevityThe RumpusHobart, listed in Wigleaf’s Top 50 (very) short fictions, and forthcoming at the Kenyon Review. She’s a graduate of the writing program at Johns Hopkins University. She can be reached at tyresecoleman.com.

Caitlin Scarano is a poet in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee PhD creative writing program, currently based in northwestern Washington. Her work was included in Best New Poets 2016 and The Best Small Fictions 2016. Her debut collection of poems, Do Not Bring Him Water, will be released in Fall 2017 by Write Bloody Publishing. The Sundress Academy for the Arts (SAFTA) is an artists’ residency that hosts workshops, retreats, and residencies for writers, actors, filmmakers, and visual artists. All are guided by experienced, professional instructors from a variety of creative disciplines who are dedicated to cultivating the arts in East Tennessee.
