Meet our new editorial intern: Taylor Gray

Hey, guys!

My name is Taylor, and I don’t like to talk about myself. It’s not that I don’t “know” myself; in fact, I’m quite introspective. I even take Buzzfeed personality quizzes regularly to find out what kind of cheese I am or which character from The Office I’m most like (it’s Jim). But I’m not one for the spotlight, so bear with me.

Originally from Nashville, I moved to Knoxville in 2013 to study English and Spanish at the University of Tennessee. Over the course of my academic career, I have developed an interest in public writing and intercultural communication, and I hope to merge these interests by pursuing a career in public relations, particularly in the nonprofit sector.

When I’m not reading my beloved thriller novels, I spend a lot of time reading and analyzing feminist and multicultural literature. I also enjoy contemporary short fiction and poetry. I was first introduced to language through music, so music has played a huge role in my study of the written word. I often find myself searching for and reading lyrics, studying them as I play the song on repeat.

I am an old soul, and my wildest dreams include traveling, writing self-help books, and living a life full of love, good conversation, and cats. (Like any other English major, my love of literature is trumped only by my love of cats.) Above all else, I want to continue to study language so that I can use it to empower and inspire people. Words provoke, arouse, and motivate, and I want to channel that power and incite change.

I am thrilled to be a member of the Sundress team. I am surrounded by so many talented, beautiful artists, and I know there is no better place to grow my love of language.

Taylor Gray is a senior at the University of Tennessee majoring in English with concentrations in Literature and Technical Communication. Through her studies, she has developed an interest in feminist and multicultural literature. In hopes of becoming fluent in Spanish, she is minoring in Hispanic Studies. When not writing or studying, Taylor enjoys reading thrillers, finding new music, and checking her horoscope. She also dedicates much of her time to the UT College of Architecture and Design as the first-ever communications intern.
