Writing Booze: A Workshop and Cocktail Class
July 25th 4:00-7:00PM
Firefly Farms
195 Tobby Hollow Ln, Knoxville, TN 37931
The Sundress Academy for the Arts is proud to present “Writing Booze: A Workshop and Cocktail Class” taught by visiting writer, Sam Slaughter.
There’s no doubt about the connection between alcohol and literature. Any number of books and studies (The Trip to Echo Spring, for example) discuss these connections.
This workshop will begin a dialogue with participants in a two-fold manner. First, they will use texts from famous authors (Ernest Hemingway, Dorothy Parker, among others) to examine how they write about and discuss alcohol in the context of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. Participants will then use this knowledge and apply it to in-class writing on similar topics.
Each hour will culminate with the construction of a classic literary cocktail, which will then fuel the writing for the next hour.
This workshop runs from 4:00 to 7:00PM, and the ticket price of $45 includes instruction, booze, as well as a dinner served post-workshop. Register now to reserve your spot.
